Gillian McKeith: Star of the 2010 I\’m A Celebrity Horror Show
This year’s ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!’ kicked off on Sunday 14th November and an early star of the show has emerged in the form of Scottish nutritionist Gillian McKeith.
As a self-confessed hater of all things creepy-crawly (she jumps every time a fly lands on her), it was a dead cert that she’d be picked for the first trial, much to her horror.
Facing the first ‘bush-tucker’ trial against Lembit Opik, she was chained-up in a sealed underground chamber containing rats and water, and ended up having a serious panic attack requiring medical attention and oxygen to calm her down.
After she had been revived by medics she said “I have massive phobia’s I’m facing. I’ve slept out in the jungle overnight, I’m terrified of insects and today I had to cross a bridge – I’m afraid of heights.”
Gillian’s ordeal, which was broadcast on ITV1 to a record 12.5 million viewers on Monday night, is sure to reignite the debate over celebrity exploitation that has plagued the series; the most notable celeb to have faced the wrath of the public vote time and again was glamour model Jordan in last year’s series.
As could have been predicted, Gillian has already been selected by the public to undertake the next trial so we’ll just have to wait and see how this year’s celebrity horror show unfolds!
